What a WEEK!

Dear everyone, I want to open this week's letter with a scripture.
"Come unto Christ and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness... and look to him with all your might, mind, and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you." -Moroni 10:32

Golly Jee Moroni was such a cool guy! He truly knew what he was talking about! I honestly have no idea where to begin! But I can say this much, I am not the same person I was a week ago... and I was not truly converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ until now! Christ is everything! Baptism is VITAL! These are some of the phrases I have come to know and understand for myself to teach the gospel. I know those are obvious answers.... but they are answers we definitely overlook!

This week I have taught 4 different types of people the gospel. It has been discouraging, confusing, and sometimes even amusing, but always rewarding! I have learned a lot about Christ and what my true purpose as a missionary is. Like many people told me, this was nothing like I expected it to be. And I am completely ok with that! So we have these teaching meetings in the MTC which are called TRC's and the investigators could be actors or real investigators and you never know and can never tell which one's they are. Sis. Cooper and I have taught two TRC's ones name is Karisa and she is a GOLDEN investigator! She is so receptive and we all opened up together really well. We for sure are getting a baptismal date soon! And then there is Ny (KNEE) she is from Madagascar and talks SOOO quiet! The first lesson was a little terrible. As some of you may know when I get nervous I tend to talk a lot and very fast.... So that is what I did.... I had her read the scripture at the top of this letter and after wards asked her, "What to Come unto Christ?" And she was like whaaaaa???? And I fervently asked her that same exact question like five times not understanding why she was so confused with my question!! Then Sis. Cooper saved me and took over.. It was a nightmare!

Rewind to Sunday really quickly... Here in the MTC on Sunday we get to watch movies! Like The Testament and Joseph Smith and Meet the Mormons. But if it is your first Sunday you have to watch a talk by Elder Bednar called "The Character of Christ" and WOW! I am honestly a different person because of that talk. It was the most inspiring most heart changing talk I have ever and will ever hear!!! His main point he got across was this. The character of Christ is looking outward instead of inward. As a missionary I don't matter! It is not about me at all! It is about Christ and about the people I teach! So we began to head into the second lesson with Ny really nervous and scared. But as we got to the door we hurried and knelt down and prayer for the character of Christ to be inside us! And to let the spirit teach not us. What a difference that made! If we look to the Lord and not ourselves and lean to him he will direct our paths and He will convert thousands! I am so grateful for my beautiful companion sister Cooper who is very patient with my craziness! haha

We are a very golden companionship. And our investigators and teachers have noticed. Because I teach from my heart. I don't know every scripture or story at the top of my head, but I teach from my own experiences and my own understanding, while Sister Cooper does the opposite. We balance each other out so much and we balance out those qualities in the lessons! I love it here so much and I love the person I have become not only from what I've learned but from the people I'm around! There is a phrase our district lives by and it is FIRED UP! hahaha our branch president always says it so now it is our motto! We have grown so close! The sisters I have learned to love and call my family are all so precious to me. We laugh and love being around each other! They also think I'm pretty funny so that is a bonus! hahaha

And the elders... oh the elders hahaha they are so great! Sometimes crazy but we love 'em! District 42D is basically the best district in the MTC... Just saying.... hahaha I love them and will be more than heartbroken to see them leave. I hope you all know how true this church is and if you don't go and pray about it! Cause I promise you will receive an answer!

Till next week, I love you all!

-Love Sister Rust
